This article describes the effects of a study that investigates imprint training in foals. Foals either received 4 imprint training sessions (birth, 12, 24, and 48 hours after birth), 1 session at birth only, 12, 24, 48, or 72 hours after birth only, or no imprint training. The foals were not handled again until they were six months of age. At that time, there were no differences between foals who had received 4 sessions, those who had received 1 session, or those who had not been imprint training in regards to their reactions to objects that had been used during imprint training, their reaction to new objects, or their behavior. In this study, imprint training was not effective in making the foals better behaving or less reactive.

In this study, imprint training wasn't effective in producing foals who were less reactive or better behaved.
